Children not only perform but also builds audition and performance skills and experience that support their dream career. This program promotes professionalism, increases self-esteem, boosts confidence, and gives children in the community an opportunity to express themselves in a warm, nurturing, and safe environment.
Music Therapy Groups and Sessions: Each year, one cohort of at risk teens ages 14-17 participate in a closed group discussing challenging experiences. One child under 13 years old participates in weekly private sessions due to trauma related circumstances that have impacted their levels of daily functioning. Music is used as a therapeutic tool to promote self expression and emotional identification and regulation. Increasing life and leadership skills, coping strategies, and socialization are also key goals for the groups.
Workshops and Demonstrations: Note by Note has facilitated music therapy and leadership workshops demonstrating the affects of music and therapy. This holistic experience gives insight and knowledge to the community regarding stress reduction, self identification, self soothing and emotional regulation, fine and gross motor movement exercises, cultural awareness, and positive social behaviors. This experience also promotes creativity, self-expression, music education, and mental health.
Individual Lessons; Every week, one child receives a 30 min music lesson based upon need and desire to grow musically and personally
